EPICA Issues Update On 'Classical Conspiracy' Concert
April 17, 2008Dutch symphonic metallers EPICA will take part in a special concert dubbed "Classical Conspiracy" on June 14 at the Miskolc International Opera Festival in Hungary.
The band previously stated about the concert, "The 'Epica: The Classical Conspiracy Show' is going to be a very unique event, because the Dutch symphonic metal band will play a very specific musical programme. They will perform classical pieces from Mozart, Dvorak, Verdi, Orff, Prokofiev, Grieg, Vivaldi in EPICA's style and of course symphonic versions of EPICA songs. Some EPICA songs will be rewritten to make it more bombastic only for this event. Moreover there will be other surprises as well."
EPICA has since issued the following update:
"EPICA have finished writing the scores for the choir and orchestra of the classical show, and sent it to Miskolc. The extended Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of Miskolc National Theatre have started rehearsing for the show. The main media supporter of the show, Borsod Online, will release the first photos and videos of the rehearsals.
"Please visit their website, www.boon.hu, on April 21st at 9 a.m. (CET) to see the photos and video of the choir rehearsal. Two weeks later, on May 5th at 9 a.m., you can check out the orchestra rehearsal in photos and video. Don't miss it!"

EPICA is currently utilizing the services of singer-songwriter and vocal coach Amanda Somerville as the stand-in vocalist for the band's North American tour with SYMPHONY X after the group's regular singer, Simone Simons, was infected with Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA),also known as the hospital bacteria.
